Pulling the War Over Our Eyes
I’m sure there will be others posting this here, but it appears that we may have captured Saddam Hussein in a raid in Tikrit, hiding in a “ventilated spiderhole” underground.
Pardon my ignorance, but wasn’t the purpose of this war, to disarm Iraq, not to depose or capture its leader? I don’t support either position, but people are cheering as if the “goal” of this war had been achieved.
It hasn’t. We have not yet found any Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq. Wasn’t that the whole reason for going into Iraq?
And where is Osama bin Laden, the real reason 9/11 was supposed to have happened? What happened to the manhunt for him? It’s like a bacteria. If you don’t take your full regimen of antibiotics, full to the end, you risk making the remaining bacteria in your system stronger, and more resistant to the antibiotics you’ve ingested. We left Osama bin Laden alone, somewhere, where he can now regroup, replan, and architect and even more lethal and destructive attack, with new splinter groups to help fund and support him.
And all this, because someone used the term “Weapons of Mass Destruction” in the same context with both Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein in such a short period of time. There is still a huge percentage of people who believe Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden were BOTH responsible for the attacks on NYC on 9/11, despite them both having completely opposite religious points of view, and in fact, disliking each other to the core.
I think someone has pulled the War over our eyes.
